Ithaca Police Department
The Ithaca Police Department is a full service agency that patrols the approximate 10 square miles that make up the City of Ithaca. The department currently consists of 73 sworn officers ranging from patrol, investigations, and specialty units such as SWAT, bike patrol, traffic unit, warrants, and a unit that patrols the downtown Ithaca Commons. A strong emphasis is placed on community policing, and we value the partnerships we have established with other law enforcement agencies, service organizations, businesses, and our local residents. We're proud of the fact that Ithaca was ranked as having the 3rd lowest metropolitan crime rate in the country by Sage Publication in 2008 and we ask you to join us in our mission to keep Ithaca a safe and healthy community.
